Wee Waa is Australia's Cotton Capital and the place Daft Punk selected to launch it's album Random Access Memories in 2013, a dynamic rural community situated in the rich agricultural heartland of the Lower Namoi Valley in North West NSW.  The town of Wee Waa has a population of 2,100, (according to the Census 2006 1,689 and 2011 Census 2,433) and services a far greater rural community as well as the villages of Merah North, Spring Plains, Burren Junction, Pilliga and Gwabegar. The majority of this area is rich fertile country well suited to the agricultural pursuits that sustain the district and provide its people with a quality way of life.

Wee Waa is a mere 42 kilometres off the Newell Highway, west of Narrabri, and is a gateway to the far west centres of Walgett, Collarenebri, Lightning Ridge Opal Fields and beyond.

Wee Waa is serviced by: Countrylink Rail, interstate coaches, and daily air services offered through Narrabri.
The Wee Waa district has an average summer minimum temperature of 17° and a maximum of around 37°. Recorded average winter minimum and maximum temperatures are 3° and 17° respectively. The district can also expect a rainfall level of approximately 635 millimetres in one calendar year. It is 190 m above sea level.

The Aboriginal meaning of Wee Waa is "Fire for Roasting", and it was the first town on the Namoi River, having had its beginnings in 1837. The birthplace of Australia's modern cotton industry, in April the area transforms into snowy white profusion from horizon to horizon as the cotton harvest gets under way. The town has 2 motels, 4 schools, a preschool, ABC Learning Centre, 2 hotels and 2 Caravan Parks as well as fine eating-places, a swimming pool, picturesque 9-hole golf course, bowling club, tennis courts, a modern sporting complex, a hostel for the aged and a new medical centre.

The Committee of Narrabri Jockey Club would like to advise that they have been successful in securing another race day.
curing another race date.  Narrabri Races will be held on Saturday 3rd June, at the Narrabri Racecourse. 
We will now start to work on organising and we will be racing within the picnic race circuit with Talmoi, Mallawah and Wean which will be a new look race meeting.

The Bentley Effect film to screen in Narrabri

29th April Narrabri Bowling Club 6.30pm

An award winning feature length film telling the inspiring story of the NSW Northern Rivers campaign to protect the region from coal-seam gas (CSG) will show at the Narrabri Bowling Club on April 29 at 7pm.

The Bentley Effect, from Australian director and producer, Brendan Shoebridge, chronicles the long campaign against unconventional gas that culminated in the dramatic and ultimately successful community showdown at the gates of Bentley near Lismore, NSW.

Wee Waa Sew n Sews meet every 2nd Thursday from 10 am - 4pm at the Presbyterian Hall.

Calling all relay for lifers. We need you!! The Relay for life will be held in Narrabri on the 28th of April 2017. There's going to be some exciting changes.
