Water reform reaches north

Amelia Williams May 25, 2016,

CRUNCH time is coming to a range of crucial issues for irrigators in the top half of the Murray Darling Basin, with licence buybacks and the states’ share of overall water take topping the agenda.

A comprehensive plan for water recovery is under development and this week Murray Darling Basin Authority chief executive, Phillip Glyde, headed north to kick off the latest round of consultation with stakeholders.

Narrabri’s perfect dilemma

Narrabri’s perfect dilemma

The Northern Daily Leader Julie Maughan 2 Mar 2017, 11:44 a.m

Narrabri will feature harness racing again this Sunday with their big Carnival of Cups meeting presenting an eight race program.

Rubbers Dilemma from the Tony Missen stables will make a return in the opening event after the filly scored her first career win last week at Narrabri from six race starts. The win surprised Missen who trains the Blissful Hall filly – and races her along with Alan Tinden, Tamworth HRC Board member Greg McDonell and Bob Peterson – as the filly had only been in the stables for two weeks.

Narrabri Gas Project EIS leaves locals frustrated

Narrabri Gas Project EIS leaves locals frustrated

Western Magazine 3 March 2017

A 7000-page Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Narrabri Gas Project (NGP) that’s been at least five years in the making has the local community overwhelmed, with only 60 days to frame its response.

The EIS for the project was placed on public exhibition on 22 February 2017.

Many in the community believe Santos has deliberately stymied the community’s response efforts by limiting availability of the file in an accessible electronic form.

Complying with its obligations of ease of use and accessibility, as promised to the local Community Consultative Committee.

NBN website update allows you to find out when network is available in your area

NBN website update allows you to find out when network is available in your area

ABC Monday 27 February

Have you wondered when you will have access to the NBN?

For the first time, you will be able to find out. The company has updated the website's address tracker to show a timeframe for when people in an area can connect to the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Previously, the NBN website told people when construction would begin in an area — not when the service would actually be available.

"The number one question we get asked by people is 'when will it actually be available?' so this new update gives people an answer to that very question," NBN spokesperson Dan Chamberlain told the ABC.

Crossroads beat Tatts to book Narrabri grand final berth

Crossroads beat Tatts to book Narrabri grand final berth

northern daily leader

Craig Trindall wound back the clock as Crossroads snatched the minor premiership - and first grand final spot - from Tatts on Saturday.

The former NSW Country quick claimed a remarkable 8-37 to steamroll Tatts for 88 and bowl Crossroads to a 100 run win.

The result saw them leapfrog Tatts and finish on top, leaving the premiers and RSL to thrash it out next week for the remaining spot in the decider.

Trindall’s haul wasn’t the only outstanding effort for the round with Civeo openers Nick Smart and Lachlan Cameron both cracking centuries as they defeated RSL.

Smart hammered 110 in a 150-run opening stand with his districts captain, who carried his bat for 114 to pilot Civeo to 4-291.
